1. INSTALLATION
=====================
Installation is done by Plug&Play by the usual Windows built-in installation procedure:

- Connect your device to an USB port of your PC.
- Windows will then install several usb devices using Plug&Play.

- For the device "RT USB MRTD Reader" a "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box will appear.
- Follow this wizard selecting "Not this time", Next.
- Then "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)", Next.
- Select "Search for the best driver..." and "Include this location in the search:" 
  Here browse to the (extracted) subfolder "DriverFiles" from this zip, Next
- The "Windows Logo Test" warning has to be acknowledged by "Continue Anyway".
- Finish.

- For the device "USB Serial Port" repeat the steps above.

Notes: 
Default RS232 settings: 19200-7E1
This settings are done in hardware and can be different for customized solutions.

Administrator grants are required to install above virtual com hardware drivers.

After finishing driver installation, open the Windows' device manager.
Now you will find an additional COM device "RT USB MRTD reader Com x".
If necessary, the com port number can be adapted in the properties dialogue.

The keyboard itself and other modules might be not available when the virtual com driver installation is pending.
The standard hid devices will be installed automatically afterwards.




2. TESTING
=====================

To test the OCR reader, run "MCI 111 Demo.exe" and swipe a OCR card or passport.

This demo application requires .net Framework 2.0 or higher.
It is designed for standard OCR firmware and default hardware parameters (19200-7E1).

Alternatively you can always test the OCR module using some terminal program, such as Hyper Terminal.
For alternative hardware parameters, just adapt the RS232 configuration of your terminal program



3. KEYBOARD WEDGE
=====================
As an alternative it's possible to output data as virtual keystrokes.
For doing so an utility is provided in subfolder \KeyboardWedge.

Please follow the readme file there to install and configure this utility.
Important: Adopt the INI file's PORT=X setting to the COMx from step 1 above.



4. DRIVER UNINSTALL
=====================
The "FTDI USB Serial Converter Drivers" can be removed using the XP "Add or Remove Programs" wizard.
Alternatively run FTDIUNIN.EXE from a command prompt and follow the messages.

1. INSTALLATION
=====================

Die Treiberinstallation erfolgt mittels Plug&Play und der üblichen Windows-Installationsprozedur:

- Verbinden Sie die MCI 111 mit einem USB-Port Ihres PC.
- Windows installiert dann einige Geräte über Plug&Play.

- Für das Gerät "RT USB MRTD Reader" erscheint ein "Assistent für das Suchen neuer Hardware".

- Folgen Sie diesem Assistenten und wählen bei ""Diesmal nicht", Weiter.
- Dann "Software von einer Liste installieren ... (für fortgeschrittene Benutzer)", Weiter.
- Dann diese Optionen aktivieren: "Diese Quellen ... durchsuchen" und "Folgende Quelle ebenfalls durchsuchen" 
  Hier navigieren Sie bitte zum (entpackten) Ordner "DriverFiles" dieses ZIP-Pakets, Weiter.
- Die "Windows Logo Test"-Warnung muß mittels "Continue Anyway".
- Fertigstellen.

- Für das Gerät "USB Serial Port" wiederholen Sie bitte diese Schritte.


Anmerkungen: 
Default RS232-Parameter: 19200-7E1
Diese Einstellungen werden in der Hardware vorgenommen und können bei kundenspezifischen Lösungen abweichen.

Für die Installation der Virtual-COM-Hardwaretreiber sind Administrator-Rechte erforderlich.

Nach erfolgreicher Installation öffnen Sie bitte den Windows-Gerätemanager.
Hier sollte unterhalb Anschlüsse/COM ein "RT USB MRTD reader Com x" eingetragen sein.
Die Nummer der Com Schnittstelle kann wie üblich mittels rechter Maustaste und Eigenschaften angepasst werden.

Die Tastatur selbst und weitere Module sind möglicherweise noch nicht verfügbar, während die Virtual-COM Treiberinstallation ansteht.
Windows installiert danach die Standard-HID-Geräte automatisch.



2. TESTEN
=====================
Den OCR-Leser testen Sie am einfachsten mittels unserem Tool "MCI 111 Demo.exe".

Diese Demo-Anwendung benötigt das .net Framework 2.0 oder höher.
Sie ist für die Standard-OCR-Firmware und die Default-Parameter (19200-7E1) ausgelegt.

Alternativ können Sie das OCR-Module mit einem beliebigen Terminal-Program testen, beispielsweise mit Hyper Terminal.
Bei abweichenden Hardware-Einstellungen, passen Sie die RS232-Konfiguration Ihres Terminal-Programms entsprechend an.



3. KEYBOARD WEDGE
=====================
Alternativ ist es möglich, die OCR-Daten als "virtuelle" Tastenanschläge auszugeben.
Hierzu befindet sich ein entsprechendes Utility im Unterverzeichnis \KeyboardWedge.

Bitte die dort enthaltene Readme-Datei bzgl. Installation und Konfiguration beachten.
Wichtig: INI-Datei bzgl. "PORT=X" entsprechend COMx aus Punkt 1 anpassen - Rest nicht verändern.



4. DRIVER UNINSTALL
=====================
Die "FTDI USB Serial Converter Drivers" können Sie über die XP-Softwareverwaltung deinstallieren.
Alternativ starten Sie "FTDIUNIN.EXE" am Kommandoprompt und folgen den Anweisungen.
