The hsf student radio station was looking for a suitable input solution for its mobile outdoor studio, from which it broadcasts live on site at local events. Intuitive and fast operation of all interfaces was essential for this, as the moderators usually operate all the technology themselves during the transmission and external broadcasts are already more challenging due to additional tasks beyond the usual content.
In addition to studio equipment such as microphones and the mixing console, playout software is used in the outside studio, which allows for example music tracks, presentation beds and jingles to be played and stopped at the touch of a key.
The complexity of the playout software often demands time-consuming operation with the mouse, which cannot always be realized properly, especially under mobile conditions. Frequently required functions should therefore be made quickly and easily accessible using the keyboard.
As space is often limited at the place of use, the hsf student radio station finally went for a combination of two compact keyboards from PrehKeyTec. While one configured keyboard with laser etched keys provides the essential functions for a radio broadcast, another with customizable keys offers the option of also playing complex software functions.
The MCI 60 was customized according to the wishes of the student radio station so that the software can be operated intuitively and conveniently. The color design, the different key sizes and the blind caps that are used highlight the important functions visually and haptically, making them easy to recognize and reach.
The MCI 30 can optionally be used in addition and offers the desired freedom to carry out complex functions and operating sequences at a single keystroke. Thanks to the flexible programmability of the keypad, the functions required for simpler transmission operation can be implemented, integrated and, if necessary, changed or even replaced.
"The two keyboards from PrehKeyTec have been a great addition to the technical equipment in our outdoor studio and have taken the operation of our playout software to a new level."
