The Tax Office Keyboard for Increased Efficiency

Hello and thank you for taking the time for us. Can you tell us something about how you programmed your keyboard?

The keyboard was programmed using a free PrehKeyTec tool. Most of the desired functions could be easily copied onto the keys by drag-and-drop from the provided sample programming. Other functions were created effortlessly by entering the required key combinations.

Using this tool allowed me to transfer the programming directly to the keyboard. The centralized programming via a computer enabled us to use the keyboard at various workstations without the need for additional software installations.


What do you see as the biggest advantages of the keyboard, and how exactly do you use it?

The keyboard allows me to speed up processes that typically require multiple mouse clicks or keyboard inputs. It is particularly useful for booking receipts in law firm accounting, especially when opening new account sheets or changing views. It is used for a variety of tasks, such as displaying different views (account sheet, journal, OPOS) or generating, copying, and deleting entries.

Commonly used commands can be executed quickly and easily after programming them once. This makes the work way easier for new employees who are not yet familiar with DATEV, as they no longer need to navigate through different menus to find the desired command. This has been very helpful during the onboarding process.


Can you estimate how much time you can save per day with the keyboard?

It's difficult to quantify the exact time savings. Roughly estimated, for new employees not familiar with DATEV, we could assume time savings of about five minutes per hour.
