How programmed office keyboards can save a lot of time in law firms
 

Hello Mr. Ewert, you tested a programmable keyboard for us in your day-to-day work as a tax clerk at PKS Stahl & Partner mbB. Which programs and applications did you use the keyboard for?

"As I mainly work in accounting/financial statements, I used the keyboard here. I was able to carry out many functions directly with the keyboard, such as calling up various evaluations or adding clients, which I otherwise had to select with the mouse in DATEV accounting."

How did the programming work, was it complicated or did you manage it well?

“Programming was very easy. The library supplied already included some standard commands and I was able to add to these individually. I simply dragged and dropped the key commands onto the plugged-in keyboard and the new programming was immediately available after saving. Replacing the keys on the keyboard itself was also possible without any problems.“


What do you see as the biggest advantages of a programmed keyboard in your working environment in the tax office?

“Using the keyboard allows me to perform many accounting/financial statement activities faster and therefore more efficiently. But the programmed keys can also make the workflow more efficient in other programs such as payroll or tax returns. Of course, every administrator has a few keyboard shortcuts in their head, for example "F8" to copy a posting or "Shift + F8" to create a general reversal booking. However, many functions are still called up laboriously using the mouse because you simply don't know all the key combinations by heart. That being the case, the keyboard with the stored key combinations makes working much easier.”

What major challenges do you see in the day-to-day work of law firms today and in the coming years?

“As in many other industries, our biggest challenge is the shortage of skilled workers. There are fewer and fewer employees for more and more tasks in the law firm. Any time savings are welcome and necessary here. Part of this can certainly be addressed through automation and the use of AI, so that control and business advice will continue to come to the fore.”
